My beautiful niece and goddaughter Zara was diagnosed with b-cell lymphoblastic ALL leukemia. She had started VPK and was making tons of friends and soaking up the curriculum like a sponge. She attends church where she would come home talking about her love for Jesus daily. She had just started ballet and was learning the words to the soundtrack for Rise of Red- a Descendents Movie. Her family noticed bruises showing up on her body and made an appointment for the pediatrician. Her blood results came back abnormal with a hemoglobin of 4. She was rushed to the hospital where her platelet count continued to drop and she was losing time, so she was airlifted to Adventhealth Orlando. She was moments away from hemorrhaging, receiving bags upon bags of blood. Our brave Zara who's always been wise beyond her years and had the sense of humor of Andy Khoffman was diagnosed the next day with the early stages of Leukemia at 4 years old. While currently in ICU she has put on a brave face for her family, despite a big fear of needles. In this time we ask for the help of expenses for Zara. She will be receiving top medical care from these wonderful professionals. Their savings were just spent on their first home and moving up to Daytona Beach to support a better future.
As her family, her parents need help. It will be up two years or more of care and agressive treatment must immediately take place. Within the first days she is requiring surgeries and chemotherapy as well as countless medications. On behalf of my sister and brother in law, I turn to the community to ask for help. ALL donations will go towards medical expenses and daily necessities. If you cannot donate, sharing our sweet Zara's situation will go beyond the distance. We are praying day in and day out that Zara will be back to dressing in her heels and playing with her cousins as soon as possible. Please, whatever you can to help this wonderful Disney princess in the making!
We are also making this to follow your gut instinct as a parent and child advocate. Do NOT underestimate your intuition. If not for my sister, Karina calling Quest and forcing the blood results to be faxed ASAP, the weekend could have had a terribly different outcome than what we are facing now.
