Hi friends,
Pictured here is Preston, his girlfriend of 13 years Ashley, and their 2 sons. On December 9th, Preston had a small stroke/brain bleed and was admitted to Kettering ICU. He spent 2 days in ICU and then 4 days on the 5th floor Neurology unit. After a tiring and terrifying week he came home with zero deficits, and back to work the same week, but 5 new medications. He then had 2 follow up appointments for imaging just to make sure the bleed was healing and then a 6 week follow up with his neurologist on February 9.
However 4 weeks and 2 days after his admission he began having right leg weakness. Neither him or Ashley thought much of this as there weren’t any other symptoms at the time. Fast forward another 24hrs and the leg weakness was still there. They still didn’t think much of it as there weren’t any other noticeable signs. Preston had to stay home from work again because his job is standing 8hrs daily. Ashley and the kids were on their way out the door for school and work. Ashley ran back inside (this is where god did his big part) went downstairs to grab something and found Preston on the bathroom floor. He had fallen but seemed okay. Ashley quickly realized she couldn’t get him up on her own especially because his right leg didn’t want to work much at all. Their oldest son helped her get him up and that’s when Ashley knew something was really wrong as he could barely walk and wasn’t talking much. That morning, on January 13th, little did they know their lives were about to drastically change. Preston had now suffered multiple embolic strokes and spent 9 days in the hospital and is now currently inpatient at a rehabilitation facility. He cannot walk, or use his right arm and has to relearn to talk as well. He needs full time care after rehab also which will include in home healthcare and therapy (physical, speech and occupational) They also live in a tri-level home and will probably have to make adjustments since he will be using a wheelchair. If you could find it in your heart to donate and help Preston’s family through that traumatic time it would be greatly appreciated.
