I am raising funds to support two incredible organizations in Uganda that help premature babies survive and thrive. Mama Tulia provides monthly retinopathy screenings and treatments to prevent blindness in premature infants, as well as other services to prevent and support premature births. Mama Tulia also helps prevent and support premature babies in many ways. Every month, several babies need urgent care, and this month, one child must travel to a larger city for advanced surgery. The need for support is ongoing, as each month brings new challenges and more babies who require sight-saving treatment.

In addition to medical care, I also work with an organization that runs a transitional home for the tiniest babies. This home offers a safe place for infants to stay before returning to their villages, many of which lack running water or electricity. The transitional home provides essential supplies, care, and stability during a critical time in these babies’ lives.

The funds raised will be used to pay the dedicated doctors who perform screenings and treatments, as well as to cover supplies and daily expenses for the transitional home. I want to stress that every dollar will go directly to these organizations and the babies they serve—not for my travel expenses. I am about to make my second trip to Uganda to help on the ground, and I am excited to reconnect with some of the babies and families I met just over a year ago.
