Support Prema Metta: Sponsor my Brooklyn Half Marathon
Donation protected
Next week, I'll be running in the Brooklyn Half-Marathon, and I'm using the opportunity to raise funds for a cause that means a great deal to me: Premametta School based in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India.
"Prema Metta" translates to universal love which is the spirit of the work that is being done here. It is led by Anup Kumar, who founded the school next to his home. Prema Metta provides free primary education, school lunches, and a larger high school for children in the community–many whose parents never had the chance to learn how to read.
Their work provides a sense of opportunity and choice for these young people. They run another program which teaches Japanese to a handful of students, allowing them to work under a nursing visa program in Japan. For children who would never have had the choice but to work in hard labor of farming, this work is absolutely transformational.
I had the privilege of visiting Prema Metta in the summer of 2023. I came home with a deep feeling of optimism about the world, inspired by a vision of how this work was improving the lives of so many, and what more could be achieved in the future.
If you're looking to support a meaningful and good cause in the world – this is one of those places that a dollar makes a real impact.
