Recently Prehistoric World Reptile Zoo suffered a fire, one of the worst fears of any animal keeper. While no humans or animals were injured due to our brave fire department, the zoo has been shut down indefinitely until all repairs are completed and inspected, and habitats are rebuilt.
This has caused all income to cease for the zoo. In the meantime, our family must still come up with the funds to feed the animals, continue veterinary care, and pay obligations such as rent and utilities. We are still taking in surrenders, rescues, and animals for the NY DEC. Since we cannot be open at this time, all May tours and field trips have had to be refunded, which has also placed financial stress on us. As you can imagine this has caused a mental, emotional, and financial burden on us as we scramble to reopen for the summer season so that we do not continue to lose future funding and income.
Prehistoric World not only works with some of the world's most endangered species, but we provide sanctuary for many of New York's reptiles and other pets who need a home. We are asking for your help to restore, rebuild, and reopen so that we can continue our mission of Research, Rescue, Rehabilitation, Education, Propagation, Preservation, Conservation, and Outreach.
Every donation will directly go to fire damage repairs, new enclosures, food for the animals, veterinary care, and supplies. No contribution is too small. Even if you are unable to donate, you can help in a big way by sharing this campaign to help get the word out. We strongly feel that we have the best community out there! Your kindness, generosity, and support means the world to us, and we couldn't continue to help the animals without you.
