THE PURPOSE OF THE FUNDRAISER
My goal is to raise money to continue to fund my medical school education at St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada. As an international student, although I am eligible for loans from private loan companies here in America if I have a cosigner, loans from these companies can only be used at American institutions.

ABOUT ME
I am the first of 3 children, born and raised in Nigeria. I completed my high school education at Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja and went on with the legacy scholarship to Howard University, Washington DC, where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in May 2018. After graduation, I worked as a research assistant at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, in the Experimental Hematology lab.
I grew up in a family that emphasizes care and love for everyone around us. Even though our finances suffered a decline after the death of my father, my mother never let me miss out on any opportunities. I may have missed some days of school due to lack of funds but she made sure I finished school. She trained my siblings and I to be grateful for what we had, to use the resources we did have to the best of our abilities, and to never let our situation hinder our dreams or goals.
I am passionate about healthcare and plan to become a pediatrician because of my love for kids. I have received a lot of help to get to where I am today, from family, friends, and even strangers, and I am beyond grateful. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated, and with your support, I will continue to work very hard towards my future plans and goals.
FUTURE PLANS/GOALS
I plan to use my degree as a medical doctor to work in and advocate for better health care for people in rural and underserved regions especially in my home country, Nigeria. The absence of access to proper and affordable healthcare is a key factor in the high mortality in Nigeria. At the age of nine, I lost my father in a car accident on a quiet rural road. His death may have been prevented if the closest hospital was not miles away from the site of the accident or if EMT was available to provide the proper first aid care before transporting him to the hospital. Not having the necessary services in place reduced his chance of survival. Having had first-hand experience of the effect of lack of proper healthcare and health services, I want to advocate for healthcare policies that ensure that people in underserved communities are not ignored. Every region requires emergency healthcare services in the form of ambulances, trained first responders and paramedics. No one should have a loved one taken from them prematurely, for example, due to the lack of affordable important and necessary health care services. I want to become the type of doctor that I hoped to see in hospitals growing up; caring and providing the best care to patients irrespective of financial status or background.
