I want to design systems that make life better for the communities that raised me — but first, I need your help to walk through the doors I’ve worked so hard to open.
I’ve been accepted into UC Berkeley’s Master's of Design program with a $36,900 Distinguished Scholar Award, which partially covers my tuition. Now, I am raising $40,000 to complete my funding and make this dream a reality.
My friend Franklin is helping me set up this fundraiser, and all funds will go directly toward my enrollment and tuition.
My Story
My name is Precious, and I am a first-generation college student from Calabar, a city in southern Nigeria. I am an early-career designer and community educator. Getting into the University of California, Berkeley is a huge step to expand the impact I've already started in communities across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
What I’ve Done So Far:
- Host online sessions to teach 70+ young people across Sub-Saharan Africa UX design, including leading STEM bootcamps for 100+ children in Calabar, Nigeria.
- Working with organizations to design solutions for financial inclusion across Rwanda and Haiti
- As a mentor and student ambassador at Technovation, I’ve worked in recruiting 350+ girls in Southern Nigeria to join the challenge in building mobile apps and AI-powered solutions to solve community challenges in education, healthcare, agriculture, and climate.
- Co-designed EcoQuest with my younger sister, a climate-themed card game that teaches young people about local environmental issues and inspires them to take action.
- Currently designing a STEM board game with a goal to reach 10,000 children aged 6–14 in communities, helping them build critical thinking and problem-solving skills using the power of play.
Why UC Berkeley?
As a top global institution, UC Berkeley offers a Master of Design (MDes) program that stands at the intersection of innovation, social impact, and interdisciplinary excellence.
This Master's program will equip me with the skills, global network, and tools I need to scale community-focused innovation, especially in underserved parts of the world. I want to continue designing inclusive educational solutions, launching sustainable ventures, and influencing policy through design thinking and emerging technology.
But I need your help to make this dream possible.
I have to raise $40,000 before August 1st, 2025, to cover my tuition for the program.
With your support, I will be able to enroll and pursue my studies while working to cover my living expenses.
I would be deeply grateful if you could support me by donating or connecting me with potential sponsors.
Thank you for believing in me and being part of my story.
With love and gratitude,
