Support Pramila’s battle: Sister’s fight for Brain Tumour

I am Gyanu Ghimire, and I am reaching out to share the story of my sister Pramila Ghimire (36 years age).

My sister has been a dedicated pharmacist for over ten years, working tirelessly at a paediatric hospital in Nepal to support and care for others. Beyond her professional life, my sister is a talented book and literature writer. She is a kind, loving soul who always puts others before herself. Her generosity and kindness—whether through her work or the way she touches the lives of those around her—have made a positive impact on so many. Now, she needs our help.

My sister was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) when she was 16 years of age. NF2 is a rare genetic disorder that causes tumours to grow relentlessly on her brain and spine, strangling her nerve function. Over the years, she has endured five major open craniotomy surgeries and one spinal surgery in Nepal, all in an effort to treat a complex and aggressive tumour. The complications of surgery and the tumour have left her in a fragile state. For over 20 years, she has been completely hearing impaired in both ears. Tragically, her most recent MRI has shown the most significant brain tumour on both sides of skull base that’s potentially life threatening. Doctors have warned that if she doesn’t get the urgent removal of the complex skull base tumour and spinal surgery, she may be paralysed and has major risk of losing her eyesight, which could severely reduce her quality of life and rob her of independence. Moreover, she has pre-existing left-sided weakness, multiple pain crisis , walking imbalance, difficulty swallowing, and difficulty with her speech. Despite the challenges this has brought, she continues to show strength and resilience. However, we are facing the harsh reality that without help, it may become impossible to cover the cost of her medical treatment. Her medical treatment and surgery are being performed in India due to the complex nature of the skull base tumour and the expertise required.

Money collected will go towards:

- Medical Expenses: Multiple Surgeries , critical care , hospital stay, medications, and required tests.

- Rehabilitation:Post-surgery care, including extensive physical therapy and speech therapy.
