I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my sister, Ireland, her boyfriend, CJ, and their daughter, Prairie, with the transition to their new normal of a long hospital stay that will come with medical bills and travel expenses.

On February 6th, my sweet niece, Prairie Jo, was born prematurely. Since her birth, she has faced significant health challenges, spending every day in the NICU due to breathing and feeding issues. After 2.5 weeks of little to no improvement, Prairie's condition worsened and on February 24th she was airlifted to Omaha Children's Hospital. There we learned that the right side of her diaphragm isn’t functioning properly and will require surgery.

Prairie’s road to recover is going to be long and not easy. Before she has surgery, she has to stay in the hospital to grow bigger and stronger to make the surgery more safe. After surgery, she will need extensive therapy and care, which the doctors estimate to take months.

This fund will help cover Prairie’s substantial medical bills, Ireland and CJ’s travel expenses to and from Omaha as they live 4.5 hours away, and the ongoing care she will need to get healthy.
