My name is Nicola Watson, and I am an official representative of the Portmore Islamic Center in Portmore, Jamaica.

As many of you already know, Category Five Hurricane Melissa has devastated Jamaica, leaving behind destruction that our communities will feel for years. Entire neighborhoods have been impacted — homes destroyed, businesses washed away, schools and clinics damaged, and countless families displaced. Livestock and agriculture, which so many depend on for survival, have also suffered severe losses.

The Portmore Islamic Center has been working around the clock to assess the needs of the families in our surrounding communities. We are raising emergency funds to provide immediate relief and to help with long-term rebuilding efforts.

Repairs to damaged community facilities
