Hi, my name is Liz and I'm hoping to recoup from my cat's medical emergency and plan for her future care.

On Tuesday last week, I brought my cat to the vet because she was lethargic and not eating almost anything. She got checked out and we went with some anti-nausea meds but by Friday she was not doing any better. At her regular hospital they found fluid on her lungs and referred us to the ER. They successfully drained the fluid and tested her blood. She is currently in the clear but most likely has heart disease and will be requiring regular exams and meds to treat it.

First visit: $100
Second visit: $400
ER visit: $1,000
Today's follow up: $550
Upcoming echocardiogram: $800-$1100

Porchy is an amazing cat! She was a stray we started monitoring in 2013. She was pregnant and we brought her to a rescue so she could get care and they could find homes for the kittens. Which they did! In the end they deemed her too feral for adoption and brought her to a cat colony. But she apparently didn't like it there and she wound up back on our porch a few months later! I don't know how she got back, but after that we knew we had to take care of her for good. She lived outside as we gained her trust. We brought her inside after she developed an abscess and she surprisingly let us nurse her back to health. After many months she opened up to us and has become the sweetest, cuddliest angel.

I love her dearly and will continue to care for her for as long as she keeps fighting.

Her first echocardiogram is scheduled for May 8th. We will have a better idea of a treatment plan after that. I did have a dog with heart disease and in the beginning he required EKGs every 4 months. I do not know if they will have Porchy do the same. My goal of $5,000 is to recover from what I've spent and to have the funds for those future appointments. Any money that surpasses that I will donate to an animal rescue, most likely Mottley Mutts in Hooksett NH, where we adopted from last year.
