Poppy Fisher, 21, was in Indonesia when her life was turned upside down in a horrific scooter accident.

This occurred at 3:30 pm on Monday when she was driving home from town and came around a corner, colliding with another bike. Luckily the other person was okay, although Poppy suffered devastating injuries to her right foot.

Locals rushed to her aid, using a sarong as a tourniquet before she was taken to a local clinic to be stitched up, then to hospital to undergo her first surgery to put her foot back together.

These injuries included two severed tendons, a cluster of broken bones through her 2nd, 3rd and 4th toe and through the top of her foot resulting in exposed bones and her foot being degloved.

The surgery in Lombok included 4 pins to hold the bones together in her toes, the top of her foot and 2 tendons stitched back together.

Poppy has since been flown back to Perth, where she is to undergo multiple surgeries in an attempt to save her foot and give her the chance to walk and surf again.

Since her previous surgery, due to the poor care in Lombok as well as the skin being cut so deep, Poppy’s skin on her foot was not able to heal itself, leaving it to die. This has now put the foot at risk of infection and not recovering.

This upcoming surgery will include removal of the dead skin and a skin transplant to give the tendons and bones the best chance of healing.

As you can imagine, the medical bills, rehabilitation, and ongoing costs are overwhelming, something no one can ever truly be prepared for. The funds raised will go directly towards Poppy’s recovery and medical bills after this traumatic accident.

Poppy is grateful for all the love and support that the community has given her so far. She is a vibrant, adventurous young woman with a heart of gold. She has always given her all to others, now it’s our turn to show her she’s not alone.
