Josh’s Mitzvah Project in honor of his Poppi Lenny

Poppi Lenny Levin is fighting the battle of his life against cancer right now. What started as a simple squamous cell carcinoma, has spread into his parotid gland and is now growing throughout his neck and ear. After a major operation in July, followed by a brutal recovery including months of chemotherapy and 7 long weeks of proton radiation therapy, he is still fighting the good fight.

On his 74th birthday, we don’t want to focus on his cancer. What we want to share is the fact that on October 20th, 2012, Poppi Lenny received the greatest gift of all… a heart transplant. The past 13 years have been a gift like no other, and Poppi would do it all over again knowing the potential side effects.

His grandson Josh will be becoming a Bar Mitzvah on October 25th, 2025. As his Bar Mitzvah project, Josh decided that he wants to raise money for organ donation knowledge and awareness. Judaism encourages organ donation as a way to save lives and honor the deceased. It is truly the ultimate act of kindness. We know how becoming an organ donor can give the gift of life to a loving and lucky family, and it will be Josh’s goal to raise money to support this cause so close to our hearts. Josh will be raising money to donate to UNOS- United Network for Organ Sharing❤️ We also could use the power of prayer right now and hope that you will consider donating your prayers for Poppi please.
