As a retired US Army veteran, I have always believed in service—both to my country and my community. After years of urban gardening, I decided to take the next step and create my own farm. This journey is about more than just growing food; it's about addressing the urgent need for investment in Black farming, reversing a century of decline, and building a more equitable future for all.

The statistics are stark: in 1920, Black farmers operated 1/7 of all US farms, but today we represent just 1.4% of the nation's farms and own only 0.52% of its farmland. Disparities in funding and support continue to make it difficult for Black farmers to thrive. This year, I am committed to making a difference by donating fresh produce to local food banks to help offset food insecurity in our area. The funds raised will go directly toward purchasing essential farming equipment and tools, produce supplies, organic soil amendments, seeds, and fuel—everything needed to build a sustainable and productive farm.

Pop Pop Farms is also partnering with Runnymeade Community Farm to provide educational support for beginning gardeners and hobbyists.
