URGENT! Please help us bridge a $300 gap in Rosalind Jackson's final expenses.
Many families at Pontiac's Safe Tonight Shelter moved into safe and stable housing as the season came to a close on March 30th, 2026. Our Shelter community, the family we chose, celebrated many triumphs but also faced moments of deep loss.
In the final weeks, we lost two cherished matriarchs of our Shelter Family—Tracy Marks and Rosalind Jackson. Their absence is felt by all, and we honor their memories by supporting the loved ones they left behind.
Funds will first help with basic final expenses. A home going for Ms. Jackson is planned for April 24th and a celebration of life for Ms. Marks is to be scheduled. Next, funds will provide essential home support for Roz's 16-year-old daughter, Aminah, with special needs, and help cover the costs of infant supplies for newborn Zamaya, Tracy's granddaughter born just hours before her passing.
The Shelter experience was one of considerable joy and considerable woe. We've celebrated 15 families moving into permanent housing. As of April 15th several families of one had softer landings than anticipated. Pontiac's Caring Community and Shelter Partners such as Kids Empowered on the Move are finding solutions and the year needed to break the chains of homelessness is being met with intention and supporr.
We ask the generous people of Pontiac and greater Oakland County to dig in even deeper and give for Rosalind and Tracy. We ask that all give and consider how we might house many more of the 58 women with and without chiidren that passed through the Shelter doors.
Donations will secure a better future for the girls left in our care. Finally, funds will be earmarked for grants to women still journeying toward safe, permanent housing. Your support means so much to Pontiac, the heart of Oakland County, and to our most vulnerable, the housing insecure families who need it most.
