Hi, I’m Amanda Smoker. As a lot of you may or may not know, my stepdad, Poncho Ballard, has been fighting cancer for about 2.5 years. On August 9th, he fell and was transported to Haywood ER, where he was later admitted. After countless days of tests and labs, it was determined his bladder cancer had metastasized and it is now in his spine, so bone cancer is our new diagnosis. His oncologist has put in a referral to Duke University Hospital. When it is approved, he will be transported there for treatment and further care. My mom has been there every day and will continue to be, and I know it is going to be very costly. All monies raised will go straight to my mom’s bank account.
