Since the war in Ukraine started, nearly one-third of Ukrainians have been forced from their homes. This is the largest crisis of human displacement in the world today. More than eight million people have crossed borders into neighbouring countries, seeking safety, protection and assistance. More than seven million are internally displaced, desperately in need of protection and support.
The United Nations’ International Organisation for Migration estimates that more than half of the people who are internally displaced are women. Many are particularly vulnerable because they are pregnant or have small children, have a disability or are a victim of violence.
To have an idea of the scale of these numbers imagine that the entire population of Austria has to leave the country … or imagine that half of population of Netherlands has to move inside the country. These people are in great danger and many of them are unable to meet their basic needs including food, water and medicine, counting only on the support provided by groups of volunteers and small humanitarian organisations, like “Pomocni Ukrainie” (“Helping Ukraine”)
This small association is a group of nine people with an immense heart. Relying only on donations of simple citizens, they have already made 17 transports of humanitarian aid, with almost 50 tons, mostly food, hygienic products and basic medicines, reaching from Solets region to Kharkiv. But the war has not stopped and the needs remain high. That is why we are asking for your help!
