Paul Donia, affectionately known as "PJ," is a curious and energetic 7-year-old boy in first grade at Merchantville School. At home, he is cared for by his Aunt Eileen, who has been his guardian and support.
Following the weekend of April 19th, after bumping his head and experiencing vomiting, Eileen took Paul to the hospital out of concern. There, doctors discovered a brain bleed, and further testing revealed a brain tumor. Paul underwent brain surgery on April 22 to remove the tumor, and the wait for results was excruciating for his family. Unfortunately, pathology showed that Paul has Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT), a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
Paul is gearing up for chemo and radiation which will take place over the next 6 months. This will cause much disruption to Eileen's ability to both work and care for her two children while also managing Paul's treatment.
As Paul begins his treatment journey, the costs of medical care, travel, and daily living expenses continue to grow. Eileen and the family are doing everything they can to support Paul, but the financial burden is overwhelming. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping Paul receive the care he needs and easing the burden on his family so they can focus on what matters most: his recovery.
During this difficult time, we are asking for any support you may be able to provide—whether through a donation, sharing Paul's story, or keeping him in your thoughts. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference for Paul and his loved ones.
