Hi friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I’m reaching out to ask for help for my dog, Pistachio. He will be turning 12 years old on September 23rd, but you’d never know it by the way he still acts like a playful puppy still (he just runs out of energy a little quicker these days!).

Pistachio has been part of my life since he was just 7 weeks old-small enough to hold in one hand. Over the years, he has been with my husband and I through multiple moves, my time in college, multiple life events, and my almost 5-year-old daughter’s entire life. He’s not “just a pet,” he’s a huge part of our family and our hearts.

Unfortunately, Pistachio has been struggling with ongoing issues in one of his eyes. He has now lost all vision in it, and despite treatment, it continues to cause pain, recurring infections, and the risk of the eye deteriorating further, which is extremely painful for him. Our vet has recommended eye removal surgery to give him a pain-free, healthy life going forward.

The surgery itself costs about $1,100, and because Pistachio also has a level 4 heart murmur, we will need to take extra precautions during the procedure to keep him safe. We’ve also already put close to $500 towards this trying other options, first. Every donation will go directly toward his surgery, follow-up care, and the medications he needs for a smooth recovery.

Pistachio has given our family nothing but unconditional love for almost 12 years. I just want to give him the gift of a pain-free life for whatever years he has left.
