Support Pippin's New Start and Healing

*Updated goal is for Pippins's plan for board and train scheduled for July - receipt in update photos!*

My name is Gabby, and I am a volunteer at OC Animal Care in Tustin, CA. Pippin was one of the first dogs I worked with at the shelter as a new volunteer, and I immediately noticed how shy and timid he was in a chaotic shelter environment. He had a story to tell with his big brown eyes - he was found as a stray in Orange, and no owner ever came to redeem him. I could tell the dedicated volunteers really worked with him; he knows Sit/Down/Shake/Drop It and is even potty trained!

He was placed for public adoption, and he was finally adopted after 8 months sitting in a loud and stressful dog shelter. I immediately felt a sense of relief! But, after only 2 months in his new home, he was returned back to the shelter... not only that, but the previous adopters left horrible notes for him. But, the notes didn't add up to his personality; something didn't seem right, and it seemed like the truth was stretched so the adopters could return him without any questions. All of us volunteers doubted the notes and how the adopter "feared" him. We haven't seen ANY aggression from him, just a shy dog. He was immediately placed on the euthanasia list as 'Rescue Only' - we only had a few days to come up with a plan for his second chance at life. In the 11th hour (literally, he would've been euthanized at any moment), we were able to pull together a plan with fellow volunteers and a rescue that would be willing to save his life!

Now Pippin is on a journey of recovery and learning to trust humans again. We think his previous adopters put him in a bad situation, potentially chained up outside on concrete (he has open sores on his elbows). He is decompressing now, and we are hoping to work with him and get his training back on track, so his potential future adopters will see him as the star dog he really is. We think with the right amount of work, he will be a fantastic family dog!

Us volunteers will be faced with his expenses. We are asking for any monetary donations to support his journey to recovery and adoption! He will need a new crate and supplies, and potentially medical care (he has a limp and open sores) - anything helps for Pippin!
