Piper has been battling a severe infection since November and has not responded to treatments. After 5 vet visits and numerous “trial and error” meds, we were referred to a specialist in the cities. She has been absolutely wonderful to work with. At our first visit, Piper was diagnosed with Deep Pyoderma due to a severe Staph infection. They also found a rare bacteria called Pantoea. Pantoea is an opportunistic organism and we know very little about it in animals. Piper has started an aggressive treatment to fight both of these infections.
Piper is allergic to the most common antibiotic used to treat these infections. The other option costs $400 for a 30 day supply. She will likely need this treatment for 4-6 months.
While Piper’s lesions are slowly healing, she still displays symptoms of an underlying condition… most likely an autoimmune disease such as lupus. These tests are costly.
I am the sole provider for our family. As you can imagine, the financial burden is taking a toll. We have invested well over $4,000 in the last couple of months towards her treatment and these expenses continue to add up. The next set of tests includes a skin biopsy, bloodwork, urinalysis, and ultrasound - about $3,000+ meds
I never imagined being in this position. I am a very prideful person so putting this out there was hard for me to do. Many people have asked how they can help, so here we are. I just keep telling myself that Piper deserves it.
The day Piper joined our family, our lives changed for the better. She is Kayle’s registered Emotional Support Animal and has been loved by every single person that meets her. Piper is a true testament to how special Bully breeds are. We can’t stand the thought of having to put her down due to the costs of treatment and any support helping us save her life is so greatly appreciated.
