This holiday season has taken an unexpected and difficult turn for me and my family.
While preparing a Christmas roast, I set it on the counter to rest after removing the butcher’s twine. I stepped away for just a moment and, in true Pig fashion, he managed to jump up and sneak off with a piece of the twine.
At first, nothing seemed unusual—Pig vomits occasionally, so when it happened once, I didn’t think much of it. But then it kept happening. The real alarm came when he refused to eat. As you can see, he’s built like a mini barrel and never turns down food. That’s when I knew something was seriously wrong, and I rushed him to the vet.
The diagnosis was stressful and hard to process: a complex intestinal obstruction requiring surgery. I could hardly believe that a single piece of twine had put Pig in such serious danger, and the expenses have quickly become overwhelming, including:
• Surgery
• X-rays and imaging
• Hospitalization
• Lab work and testing
• Post-operative care
The total cost is around $7,000 so far—far more than I ever expected—even with the pet care discounts I receive through my job (which unfortunately don’t apply as much to emergency services).
I can cover part of it, but I can’t manage the full amount on my own. If you’re able to contribute, it would mean more than I can express. And if you can’t, simply sharing this would help us tremendously.
Thank you for reading, and an even bigger thank you for supporting me and my family—I truly appreciate it. Wishing you all a warm and happy holiday season.
Edit: I’m relieved to share that the foreign object obstructing Pig’s intestinal tract was successfully removed, and he has been transferred to a non-emergency clinic where he’s being monitored for postoperative infection as he begins his recovery. I’m incredibly grateful and relieved knowing that thicc Piggy is expected to be okay (assuming recovery continues smoothly) and will soon return to his rightful place at home—I can’t wait.
However—before that can happen—I’ll need to have the ability to cover the remaining costs, which are continuing to grow due to boarding fees. I’m doing everything I can to make sure he’s fully cleared to come home while also trying to maintain some semblance of financial stability as we move past this, but it’s tough!
With that said, there remains a significant need for support from anyone who would like to donate.
Most importantly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has donated, shared this, or sent kind words over the past few days. Your support has meant more than I can say, and being lifted up when I needed it most is something I’ll always remember and be grateful for.
Thank you.
