From the Heart of Pierre McCray – Asking for Support During My Healing Journey

Hello everyone, my name is Pierre McCray, and I’m reaching out to my Lake City family, friends, and anyone moved to help, during one of the most difficult moments of my life.

Many of you know me personally — I’m not someone who likes to ask for anything. I’ve always tried to be the one showing up for others, lending a hand, checking in, and helping my community however I could. Whether it was helping fix something, encouraging someone who was down, or simply being there… that’s who I am at my core.

But today, I’m the one who needs help.

Recently, I suffered a serious medical emergency that led to the amputation of all five of my toes. This has completely changed my life. I am learning how to walk again, how to adjust, and how to deal with the physical and emotional challenges that come with this life-changing loss.

As I recover, I am facing unexpected financial hardships. I am currently struggling to access the medicine, supplies, and basic essentials that are necessary for my healing, due to delays and pushback from the company responsible for providing my benefits. While I wait for them to do what they are supposed to do, I am left without what I urgently need.

It’s not easy for me to ask, but I truly need support.

Why I’m Asking
