Hello, my name is Heather Worthy and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my sister Phylicia Witmer. She just turned 34 in January when she received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. She has two beautiful children ages 11 & 7 who don’t fully understand what’s ahead for their mom in the next year or more.
Phylicia was diagnosed with BRCA mutation which is a DNA Alteration in either the BRCA1 or BRCA2 tumor suppressor genes which increases her risk of developing certain types of cancer. After going through the steps necessary to deal with her breast cancer she will then have to go for further testing to make sure she doesn’t have cancer anywhere else due to this BRCA mutation.
She is scheduled to get her chemo port February 18th and then will start her first chemo treatment on the 21st. She will go through about 4 ½ months of chemo and once that’s done, they will schedule her to have a radical mastectomy where they will remove both breasts.
Like most of us, Phylicia’s household relies on 2 incomes. She will continue to work as much as she can, but she will be missing a lot of work due to appointments and recovery time. Her husband Stacy will work as much as he can while also trying to support her during appointments. We are hoping to raise enough money to help with bills and take the stress off their shoulders so they can concentrate on her healing and being there for the kids as much as they can.
The money will be used for rent, utilities, gas for travel if needed, food, and anything the kids might need throughout the school year as it will be a substitute for her normal income.
We will give updates on how she’s doing along the way to keep everyone that loves and cares for her informed on how things are going.
Just so everyone understands Keiondra's name will be listed up top in a day or 2. Mom is still taking care of our grandmother so our Aunt Kee is going to help out with transferring money. There will be times when Phylicia doesn't feel up to transferring funds and taking care of bills so Kee will be the one taking care of that.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
