Support Phoenix

Phoenix is a trans and autistic UC Davis graduate, struggling to find a job and in need of emergency support. Please join us as friends of Phoenix to help them meet their living expenses until they can find the job they are working so hard for.

After looking for a job for over a year now, our friend Phoenix needs our help affording to pay rent while they job-hunt. Every day they apply for jobs, including jobs in their field (they have an MS in Computer and Electrical Engineering) as well as entry-level positions in various other fields. They have had interviews, but no job offer yet.

This fundraiser is intended to help cover Phoenix's living expenses for six months. Despite living frugally and saving carefully, they have run out of money to pay rent. They are an LGBTQ+ asylum recipient, with no support options other than our community.

Compared to the general population, trans people of color are nearly 4x as likely  to experience unemployment. Almost one in six trans people  have had to leave school (K-12 or higher education) due to discrimination and harassment. With the pervasive discrimination that trans people and people with disabilities face at every turn, from seeking jobs to getting an education to finding housing, community support is imperative.

Any amount that you can give will go a long way to helping a nonbinary trans woman with disabilities succeed.
