On December 2, 2025, our sweet Phoebe was taken to Oak Grove Pet Urgent Care because she would not eat and would not move around much. The vet on call took x-rays and found a very large tumor that appeared to have ruptured. We took Phoebe to the Small Animal Emergency at UGA's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the tumor, spleen, an enlarged lymph node, and some liver tissue for testing. All but the liver tissue came back positive for cancer. Phoebe's recovery from surgery was remarkable! Her follow-up appointment on December 17, 2025, showed no metastasis in other organs. Her veterinary doctors recommended chemotherapy to improve her odds of survival.
So far, Phoebe's medical bills have exceeded $11,000. Her chemotherapy expenses are expected to be an additional $5,000. So far, my family and I have been able to cover $6,832 towards Phoebe's medical bills, but we cannot cover the remaining costs or pay for her chemotherapy sessions without the generosity of others.
