On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at about 9:45 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a serious motorcycle accident in Clayton, NY.
Phillip Heyl was thrown from his bike and sustained severe injuries including the amputation of his leg. While lucky to be alive, there is a long road ahead for him and his mother, Lottie, who will be instrumental in his recovery and rehabilitation.
Phillip will need a new handicap bathroom, ramp, carpeting removed and replaced with laminate flooring to prevent falls. Anticipating his needs is difficult at this point, but hoping things get easier and not harder.
Phillip is my bonus brother. His mom, Lottie, took care of me as a baby. They are my family. My heart breaks, and if we come together, we may be able to ease some of the financial burden.
If you are local and can help with any of the above, please reach out to Lottie.
If you are not in the area and would like to help, please contribute what you can.
Phillip will be recovering physically but also emotionally. His two best friends did not survive the accident and he will need all the love and support to get through this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
