One of my dear friends, Phillip Groves was born with congenital heart failure. Phillip is a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He is also a veteran and a registered nurse. He is truly one of the most caring people I know and would help anyone in need. Him and his wife put out so much good and positivity out into the world. They deserve to have some sent back to them.
Throughout Phillip’s life he’s had numerous procedures for his heart and a few months ago he started having symptoms of shortness of breath and chest pain which led him to find out his heart was in really bad shape and he had to have a heart transplant to sustain his life. During that time of waiting on a heart that would be suitable for him, Phillip and his wife Britany have been at UK hospital for about 55 days now. He has been in the ICU for most of that and has had a really rough time. He had multiple procedures done and devices placed to pump the blood to his heart for him. It’s been a very bumpy road and they have both went through so much.
The good news is Phillip was finally able to get an heart transplant on October 29th 2024!!! If anyone deserves this it’s him. We are all so grateful for this donor and so happy we can keep Phillip here for a while longer.
He’s doing great and should be released from the hospital this coming Thursday. They have to stay in a hotel for two weeks in Lexington to monitor for rejection of his new heart and he has multiple appointments back to back. Insurance isn’t going to pay for this and he’s also called the VA and they won’t either. We’re asking for donations for a hotel stay and food for two weeks in Lexington. Please consider donating and most importantly becoming an organ donor. It could save someone else’s life.❤️
