We are Philada Salvage, a recently formed architectural salvage business in West Philadelphia. We were founded in September 2025 as a partnership between 2 friends who all share a passion for old things and keeping useful material out of the landfill. Our business started as a “carrying of the torch” from Bob Beaty’s shop Beaty American - work with a guy who says “so you want to get into the salvage business?” enough and it will eventually stick!
Our first job was saving fixtures and materials from a c. 1917 stone house in Haverford which was being imminently demolished. This was before we had been able to find a permanent location for our shop, so we had to secure a storage unit before the house got torn down. From there we pursued locations that we could really put down roots in, and settled on a long vacant theater at 41st St and Lancaster Ave. We chose that location seeing the potential to grow alongside the restoration of the building. Since then, we have diverted many truckloads and handfuls of material from the landfill, while operating out of a less than ideal location.
Recently we received notice that this partnership was no longer the priority of the property owner, and we would need to pack up shop and move within 3 months. As members of the West Philly diy & construction communities we want to be able to stay in the neighborhood to continue to provide materials and items at reasonable prices to our neighbors. Being a relatively new small business we have a lot of room to grow, working with the community to keep materials in the loop and out of the landfill, as well as expanding to host workshops and provide space for local artists and builders.
We can’t do this alone. Our success is driven by relationships with people who share our passion for preservation and reuse. Now we need your help to continue doing what we do. We anticipate moving costs to be around $4000, and initial deposit for a new space to be around $6000. Outside of donating, you can help by spreading the word to others who are sympathetic to the cause. Whether this exposure leads us to new connections with people who can donate their time processing or packing material or just finding a home for any of our current stock, every little thing helps.

We are NOT "Philadelphia Salvage" or related to any other former businesses with similar names! The only former salvage business we are associated with is Bob our mentor's Beaty American!
