Support Phil Rudy's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Phil Rudy suffered an ischemic stroke on June 6th while on a jet ski in the Grand Cayman Islands. After a multi-week stay, that included Phil having a thrombectomy to remove the clot, he was transferred closer to home to Hoag Hospital's Brain and Spine unit. This care was light years ahead of what they experienced in Grand Cayman and Phil started aggressively working to get stronger. His rehabilitation, while at Hoag, was a combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech pathology. Phil, and his wife Cindy, feel so blessed to have had access to this care until the beginning of August when Phil entered into the next phase of his rehabilitation journey at home.

Coming home, on the one hand, has been a relief. Phil is a homebody - he has loved to be in the comfort of Cindy, their daughter (Megan) before she heads back to college, and their golden doodle (Ryder), while keeping up with their son (Will) who is in North Carolina playing minor league baseball. On the other hand, the transition has been extremely difficult. Phil is still at a phase of his rehabilitation where he needs constant care from a combination of in-home aid, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Cindy works full-time and is trying to get back to the level of traveling that her job requires. Unfortunately, navigating insurance and state disability is proving to be more challenging than anticipated and the out-of-pocket expenses required to provide Phil with the level of care he needs is over $1,800 a week.

Anyone that knows Phil and Cindy, knows they are both the first to give a helping hand to those in need while simultaneously being the last people to ask for help. After 2.5 months, the financial challenges compounding, and the many suggestions of close family and friends including myself, they are open to the idea of support to relieve some of the financial stressors so they can focus on getting Phil the best possible rehabilitative care.

Please consider helping Phil get back to himself by donating what you are comfortable with and sharing to the Rudy's extended network who may not be on social media. All funds donated will go towards the medical expenses incurred.

Thank you and please send the Rudy family prayers, good thoughts, positive energy and stamina to keep focused on healing in the moments, days, weeks and months ahead.
