Hi. My name is Phil Anderson, and I have a unique and worsening problem. Because of a bone deformity in my foot, I have an open wound on the bottom of my foot that I have had for 5+ years. I am 67 years old, and have Type 2 diabetes. It won't heal because of the bone deformity. It has become infected numerous times, requiring treatment with antibiotics. On two occasions, the bone itself became infected requiring antibiotics administered intravenously because oral antibiotics were not strong enough to deal with that kind of infection. And doses of oral antibiotics are a routine part of my life.

As you can see from the included photos, the problem is worsening. I've been told that amputation, while not indicated now, is a possibility if this problem persists. The cure is corrective surgery to correct the deformation of the bone. The dilemma I face is that while I have great insurance that will cover the cost (mostly) of the surgery, I do not have enough money to take two to three months off of work, that my surgeon says is necessary for proper healing. It is my right foot, and I drive for a living. No driving means a huge loss of income that I can't handle without help. Like a lot of seniors, I get a small amount from Social Security, but I must still work to keep a roof over my head. That is why I'm taking this unusual step of asking for help.
