Support Peyton's Journey through Brain Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
In March, my sweet, beautiful 17-year-old niece, Peyton, received answers for the constant pain she battles each day. She has been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is where part of the cerebellum, the lower back part of the brain, extends into the spinal canal through an opening at the base of the skull. While many live with this condition their whole lives and do not have symptoms, or the symptoms are mild, Peyton's condition is severe and compressing on her spinal cord, which has created a large fluid syrinx (cyst). She struggles with pain every day, and the compression creates more complications such as loss of sensation on her right side, memory loss, and much more. Yet, she keeps smiling!
Peyton is a beautiful, strong, amazing girl. She competes in high school rodeo, she is the Vice President on the team, and an excellent student completing college courses. She will graduate with honors in June 2026.
Peyton is truly the type of kid that lights up a room with her radiant smile and positive attitude! Always helping others any time she can. On June 4th, Peyton will be at UCSF to undergo brain decompression surgery. Her recovery is going to be a long 8-12 weeks.
My sister Morgan, is doing her best to not only stay strong as her baby goes in for brain surgery, but also continue being the best teacher to her students and raise both Peyton and her sister Averee on her own. Morgan has had to and will continue to take time off from work without pay. My heart is heavy as I watch my niece go through this and watch my sister carry the financial stress of loss of income and medical bills. Currently, we do not know what the overall cost of surgery is going to be or the week-long stay at UCSF. If there is any way you can lend a helping hand, whether that is simply by sharing this with everyone you know, donating, or praying for a perfect surgery and recovery for Peyton, it would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much!
