Support Peyton’s Family During Medical Emergency
Donation protected
On Thursday, September 28th, while at NAU in Flagstaff AZ, Peyton was experiencing unusual symptoms including crossed eyes, imbalance and double vision. She went to the Flagstaff Medical Hospital ER as she was still recovering from a cold the week prior. She was admitted to the hospital for further testing. After a CT scan, two MRIs and a spinal tap, the neurologist determined it was a type of Guillian-Barré Syndrome (GBS) called Miller-Fisher Syndrome (MFS). This condition is very rare afflicting one in a million. After diagnosis, she was transferred to the ICU where she was put on life support with IVIG treatment. The doctors told the family to plan to stay in Flagstaff for at least a month. The whole recovery process could take a year. At this point we are waiting, hoping, and praying. Fortunately, we were able to find a nearby Airbnb, albeit very expensive. It’s not viable for us to make the 2.5 drive from Phoenix area. We will be by her side until she recovers.
We are devastated and terrified.
One minute she is a happy freshman enjoying her first semester, living her best life, then she gets a cold and here we are.
The family will use the page to post updates of her progress. Many family and friends have asked how they can help and support. Helping us out with expenses is one way to help but prayers and love are the most important.
