Donation protected
On the evening of April 20th, following Easter celebrations, Petyo was settling in for a relaxing evening at home with his family, when he suddenly lost consciousness and his breath. His wife, Iliyana, rushed in and began to perform CPR, but after several unsuccessful attempts to regain a pulse, 911 was called. Medics attempted revival using a defibrillator twice with no luck. Petyo was rushed to the nearest emergency room. There, doctors successfully regained his sinus and heart rhythm; however, Petyo had to be placed under a medically induced coma in order to proceed with further lab testing.
Miraculously, on the morning of April 21st, Petyo awoke from his coma but would have to spend the next several days awaiting a diagnosis of what transpired the night before. On the morning of April 23rd, Petyo had been undergoing a routine diagnostic test of the heart, Coronary Angiography, when he again lost pulse, and doctors concluded the failing of 3 arteries. Later that same day, he was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he underwent a Triple Bypass open-heart surgery. Petyo's surgery was successful, but it is only the start of what is expected to be a long road to recovery.
The unexpected medical expense, coupled with the inability to operate the family auto shop business while he recovers, will be an undoubted burden. More so, his wife Iliyana will be Petyo's main caregiver over the next several months.
For nearly 20 years, Petyo has been working with his hands and his heart. First as a mechanic at a Volkswagen dealership, and now running his own business, RALI Auto, which he proudly opened and ran alongside his family. Fixing cars has always been more than just a job for him, it’s his passion, his craft, and just like he’s spent years carefully repairing engines and giving cars a second chance, now it’s his heart that needs the same kind of care and rebuilding.
