Hello! My name is Petrice and I am a medical receptionist, cat person, and gamer. OWBNers may know some of my PCs: Melanie "Chews The Fat" (Garou, Bone Gnawer), Susan Rothschild-Caster (Sabbat, Lasombra), Jennifer Paice (human hunter), Molly O'Brian (Changeling Clurichaun), Ivy Baker (Gangrel), etc. At the suggestion of friends, I am turning to my community to ask for help. In early May of 2025, I left work early due to a migraine—unfortunately, fairly standard. What was not standard was the way nausea turned into abdominal pain, and the way that abdominal pain persisted. I ended up in the emergency department. My ultrasound, CT scan, and labs showed nothing remarkable or strange. I saw general surgery, which ordered more tests—a HIDA scan to check my gallbladder function, which also came back normal. I am now working with gastroenterology and awaiting a colonoscopy + endoscopy on July 25th. Throughout all of this, the pain has been steady and severe. I cannot stand for an extended period of time without pain. I cannot focus well enough to work because of the pain. I'm extremely fatigued and in bed all the time, because moving and even sitting up hurts. The pain runs from my upper abdomen into my pelvis, and we are at the point of just HOPING that tests reveal an answer. Unfortunately, the amount of time that I have been off work means that my short-term disability hours at work have, surprise, run out. My primary care doctor will not fill out long-term disability paperwork even though she is the one who originally took me off work. My GI doctor might, but is currently out of the office until early August. I have already missed one paycheck and will miss at least two more. I have rent, medical bills, household bills, and cats to take care of. With the medical system failing to provide documentation in time, and with no guarantee of answers any time soon, I have no option but asking for help—something I hate to do, but have to do.
