Support Petra's Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my names Becca Reyer and I’m hoping to raise enough money for an event that has taken place and acquire some help. Petra is a black German Shepherd who suffered getting hit by a car either late last night or sometime early this morning. My fiance and I currently 33 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby before we know it. Right now we are not financially in a place that we can just pull out of pocket and cover this like it was simple and easy so I make this GoFundMe in hopes there are pet lovers and kind people who could maybe Donate and help give Petra the care she is going to need. Even if you can’t donate- sharing would mean the world!
Late last night, I took Petra out to potty and then decided to walk her to the mailbox to check the mail. Mind you, Petra was on a leash in a heel position right next to me and we were on our side of the street. We didn’t make it more than 20 feet from the mail box when the peoples 4 dogs across the street came barking, charging and growling at Petra which caused her to freak out, terrified wanting to get away; to the point I was trying to protect her, shoo them away and make sure that she didn’t slip her collar all while being pregnant trying not to injure myself. Well I was unfortunately unable to juggle all that at once and she ended up slipping her collar darting to the house. The dogs chased her the whole way and away from our home to the point she ended up getting lost in town trying to find her way back. While trying to find her way home and me out there doing my best to try finding her being as limited I am, I was unable to find her and spent hours searching. When I wasn’t out walking for her and was home- I’d occasionally open the door and check outside in hopes she’d pop up but never did. I stayed up until about 6 and only got a couple hours of sleep. I made some post hoping someone would reach out but never did until 10 minutes after I woke up this morning.
Petra unfortunately was hit by the main road when trying to find her way home. After she was hit, she got herself out of the road and bedded in some grass until she was found. When she was found, the amazing lady took her to the vet and requested they did nothing until owner was found which I appreciated. We ended up going to see her this morning before the fiance had to leave for work. We were prompted about all the possibilities since doctor was in a surgery at the time. The vet clinic did a bunch of work to make sure she was comfortable as well had throughly checked her out. Besides her leg, she is in good health but of course in pain. The doctor informed me that her leg was completely dislocated and she had the 2 fractures that she has and that the best thing for her in order to have a full recovery and smooth happy rest of her life is full leg amputation so that so many risks and factors don’t come into play.
At this moment, we’re looking at around 1200-1500 but don’t have an exact quote until all has taken place and has undergo procedure. If anyone would able to donate to Help Petra, anything would be appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, sharing would be much appreciated.

The PD was contacted when the event took place last night. I’m unaware what happened or if anything happened. As much as I’m livid and hurt and want to do what I can to make owners of said dog to pay full responsibility, I just want what’s best for Petra and to do what I can to make sure she’s being provided the care that’s very needed right now.
