Hello, my name is Kathy Delmaro, and my brother Pete was a victim of a hit-and-run on October 11, 2024. He has been hospitalized, and my family and I only found out on the 15th. He is all alone in Las Vegas. His family, including his 17 year old daughter and 13 year old son reside in Reno NV, while my family and I live in Arizona. Unfortunately, none of us are financially stable enough right now to make the trip to be with him.
From what the doctors have told us so far, he has multiple fractures in his legs and arms, his hips are crushed, and he has a small brain bleed, but my brother is a fighter.
We’re asking for donations to help bring his family to Vegas to support Pete, and to assist with any medical expenses he will face during his recovery. Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference in helping us be there for him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.
Update: 10/18 - Some family members managed to get enough money together to send our father there on a plane, and the doctors have informed us that his brain is starting to swell, well are all very worried but trying to stay positive.
Update: 10/28 - My sister's and I managed to make the drive to Vegas for only one day, while we were there, we were faced with the decision between pulling the plug or the possibility of him living in a comatose state for the rest of his life. Although we thought of letting him go, we saw life in his eyes.
Against the doctor's advice, we chose not to pull the plug and have faith. The morning after I came home, I was informed that Pete was becoming responsive. He was moving his hands and blinking to communicate, and over the past week, he has been slowly improving.
He had a procedure to get a feeding tube and a tracheostomy and is currently off of life support and breathing on his own, which was completely unexpected.
As of right now, we are hoping to get my father a temporary place to live in Vegas until Pete is healthy enough to be transported to Reno.
Thank you for any and all donations made, we will continue to update as Pete recovers.
