Support Pete's Final Journey and Memorial

Hi, my name is JoDean. I'm Pete Smith's best friend. My friend Pete has been sick and in and out of the hospital for the past 6 months due to liver failure. Recently, he was transferred to a hospital 3 hours away in Iowa City. He had an extremely low blood pressure along with fluid in his lungs. Once we got him there, we found out he is septic. In recent visits, his parents and I have talked to the doctors. They are going to start him on palliative care. From the news they gave us, he could have days to weeks left. It breaks our hearts.

He has been the most wonderful friend. He has helped me in every way possible. He has even become my kids' adopted uncle. He is the type of person who will give you everything he has to make sure you don't go without.

I'm asking for help for future funeral costs and memorial services. As we did not plan or expect this coming. It breaks my heart to even have to write this because he is such a good man.

Update: Pete has sadly passed this afternoon on 7/8. Surrounded by family and friends. He is so loved by many people. I wanna thank everyone for helping out. It means the world.
