Our friend Pete was severely injured as the result of being struck by a car in downtown Denver. Pete is in critical, but stable condition and remains under sedation to continue reducing the swelling of his brain. He is currently in the Surgical ICU at a level 1 trauma center with a hardworking team of medical professionals, his parents, Rita & Bruce, and brother, Sam by his side.
Pete’s own bike to raise money story:
a few years ago when Covid began Pete and his buddies were sitting around and he claimed he could ride from Boca Raton to Key West (205 miles) in under 24 hours. He got a lot of doubt from his friends and knew he needed to prove them wrong. Along the training journey his ride gained a lot of attention so he and his buddies figured they could use this attention to make a difference. They decided to setup a gofundme to raise money for mental health awareness. Pete’s little brother/best friend has committed suicide a few years prior so this opportunity meant a lot to him. Long story short Pete ended up doing the ride in 24 hours and raised over $10k for mental health awareness. This story got me good even before Pete’s accident. I knew the least I could do would be to plan a 100-150 mile ride to try and raise money to help Pete and his family raise money for hospital bill and everything else that will come along with his recovery. So here we are!
Pete’s fighting like the champion we all know he is, but has a long road ahead of him on his recovery. With all current treatments and future recovery expenses taken into account, any donation to Pete will be greatly appreciated and immensely helpful.
100% of the proceeds will go to Pete and his family to cover medical expenses as well as his recovery journey.
My ride will be tentatively on September 14th, 2024. All are welcome to join!
