Support Pete's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

On July 12th, Pete went in for a routine colonoscopy, expecting to hear that he might be dealing with IBS or Crohn’s disease. Unfortunately, the news was far more serious. The doctors discovered two large tumors in his colon and rectum. Our world changed in an instant. We immediately reached out to Pete’s sister and brother-in-law, Lorelei and Phil, to help us assemble the best medical team possible. That weekend, Pete underwent a CT scan and an MRI, and on July 16th, we received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his lungs, liver, and lymph nodes - Pete has stage 4 colorectal cancer.

And so, on July 17th, our journey began. Pete, his two sisters, Lorelei and Suzi, and I met with a geneticist, a surgeon, and an oncologist at Dana Farber to map out the road ahead.

The following week, Pete underwent surgery to have a port placed in his chest, preparing him for the treatments to come. Just a week later, he started his first round of chemotherapy, and as I write this, we’re here at his second chemo appointment, taking it one step at a time.

We are fully committed to this fight, not just for Pete, but for our young family. We’ve explained to the girls that Daddy is sick and that he’s receiving treatment with the goal of getting better. They have been incredibly sweet, showering him with love and care, and they are truly the best little nurses Pete could ask for.
