Our family is walking through one of the hardest seasons of our lives as my dad, Pete, battles stage 4 cancer. After courageously pursuing a clinical trial treatment in hopes of fighting this disease, he has now developed a severe autoimmune reaction that has left him hospitalized for over a week. We recently received one piece of wonderful news that gave us hope: his spinal tap came back negative for cancer cells. We are incredibly grateful and thanking God for that answered prayer. At the same time, Pete is now facing another serious challenge. Doctors believe the cancer treatment triggered CIDP, a rare autoimmune disease that causes extreme muscle weakness. The weakness has progressed to the point that he currently cannot regain his strength on his own. Doctors have started treatment with IVIG, a therapy designed to help restore and strengthen his immune system. Unfortunately, he experienced an allergic reaction during the infusion, forcing doctors to temporarily stop treatment. Their plan now is to carefully continue at a slower pace with additional medication to help his body tolerate it. Right now, we are praying for healing, restored strength, wisdom for his doctors, and guidance regarding the remaining cancer treatment ahead. As our family focuses on supporting Pete through this difficult fight, the emotional, physical, and financial burdens continue to grow. We are deeply grateful for every prayer, share, and contribution. Your support means more than words can express and reminds us we are not walking this journey alone.
