Pete, my father-in-law, was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer (gliosarcoma) and underwent brain surgery just five weeks ago. Despite the surgery, his tumor has fully returned, and he is now facing another brain surgery in a couple of days, followed by a six-week radiation and chemotherapy program. Throughout this journey, Pete and his wife Angel have had to relocate to San Francisco, which has brought on a wave of unexpected expenses—hotels, flights, gas, parking garages, and food—all while trying to focus on Pete’s health and recovery.

This has been a sudden and shocking event for our family, and it’s been incredibly hard to wrap our heads around everything that’s happened. Pete is loved by so many, and anyone who knows him knows he’s the most personable and talkative guy around. He has the biggest heart and loves his people and family deeply. Even in the face of these tough hurdles, Pete keeps telling us, “I’m not a quitter,” and he’s chosen to keep fighting, no matter what life throws his way.
