Support Peter's Journey to Recovery and Home

Donation protected
On April 26, 2024, my father, Peter Kornfeld, went into Buffalo General for what was expected to be a routine back surgery with plans to return home the next day. However, serious complications during the procedure resulted in a life-altering outcome—leaving Peter paraplegic. After nearly three weeks in the Surgical ICU due to his serious injuries, Peter was transferred to the Spinal Cord Injury unit at Strong Memorial in Rochester, NY, where he has been receiving intensive care and working tirelessly with therapy and surgical teams.

Our goal is to bring Peter home, though he will likely require continuous medical care for the rest of his life. At this time, he is confined to a wheelchair. He has lost the ability to use his legs and is working hard to strengthen his use of his upper body.

His new reality also requires significant adaptations- including a wheelchair ramp, a handicapped-accessible bathroom, and a wheelchair-accessible van. These necessary changes come with unexpected expenses. We know so many of Peter’s loved ones have requested to be able to support us in this transition, so we decided to create this fund.

Peter is determined to return home to his family, especially to his 9-month-old granddaughter, and adapt to his new life. All funds raised will go directly towards making their home accessible and ensuring Peter has what he needs for a safe return. We are deeply grateful for your support, kindness, and prayers during this challenging time.

Thank you,
The Kornfeld Family
