Hello, I don’t know how to ask even when help is offered. I have always been the person to be the helper, so it is with a humble heart that I tell my story.
My name is Peter Wilson, and up until 3/30/25, I was a normal adult attending paramedic class and working per diem EMS shifts. All that changed when I contracted salmonella. From there, my body went on a 14-day whirlwind of missing nutrients, dehydration, and low labs. Then something crazier started where the muscles in my lower legs began to weaken and not be able to be used. As of today, 4/27/25, we do not have a solid answer as to why this happened.
I have been out of work for just over a month. I have lost 54 pounds in that same time. I was admitted to ICU, had a gamut of testing, moved out of ICU, then transferred to Buffalo General Hospital to rule out any life-threatening diseases. I have good days and bad days, but no matter what, I have to use a walker to get around the house. My wife has also taken the last two weeks off to be able to tend and help me around my rehab of my leg muscles.
We have exhausted our resources. We still have medical appointments to keep, specialists to see, and rehabilitation to get to, which is why we started a GoFundMe. I am asking if there’s just a little that you can help with, it would be greatly appreciated, and I thank everyone in advance for taking the time to read this.
