Support Peter Taft's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
This Saturday it will have been 8 weeks since his life changed forever but today… we get to celebrate!!
Today was a HUGE day for Pete!! His trach was removed!! Hoping to get him closer to our parents and on the St. Paul side of town soon!! With the trach being removed- the chances are a lot better!
This last week, Pete has been able to repeat words, say hi to us, wave, has a grip that will hurt your hand when he’s asked to squeeze it and is starting to really recognize us!
Continue the Prayers… they are truly working!! He’s one strong Marine
Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you everyone all your prayers, support, and donations for Peter. Peter continues to make positive improvements. As of right now he is in stable condition. Peter is working with PT/OT weekly.

Update on Pete’s Progress
Sunday November 3, 2024

Pete has made some positive strides in his recovery, but remains in a critical, yet stable condition. Today, his care team will begin a 24-hour cranial clamp trial, where they hope to minimize interventions to fewer than three. If successful, this could eliminate the need for a cranial tube, marking a significant step forward. Another encouraging sign is that Pete is currently breathing off the ventilator, relying only on oxygen through his trach. His latest chest X-ray, however, revealed signs of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), so he’ll begin a 7-day course of antibiotics, with additional lab tests underway to ensure a comprehensive treatment.

Pete’s steady resilience has been inspiring, and each day brings new hope. His family deeply appreciates the support and encouragement he has received as they continue on this challenging journey.

Update - Sunday October 27 2024
Peter’s pupils are reactive, and there are no visible signs of infection. His urine output is good, and he remains neurologically stable. Respiratory tests were conducted today, and he managed to breathe ventilator assisted for 30 minutes in a mechanical test yesterday. A head CT scan is scheduled for tomorrow to monitor his brain condition. Peter is anemic and has received a blood transfusion. The staph infection in his bronchial tube is under control. Current treatment goals include administering a calcium infusion and relocating his feeding tube for better support.

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

On October 19, 2024, our dear friend Peter “Torch” Taft was involved in a catastrophic motorcycle accident that has left him facing a long and difficult road to recovery. Peter, a proud U.S Marine Veteran, is known for his larger-than-life personality, kindness, and passion for helping others, now needs our help more than ever.

The accident caused significant injuries that require extensive medical treatments, surgeries, rehabilitation, and long-term care. While Peter has always been a fighter, the mounting medical bills, therapy, and daily living expenses during his recovery are more than he and his family can handle alone.

As someone who has always been there for others, whether through his love of motorcycles, his close-knit friendships, or his countless acts of generosity, we now have the chance to give back to a man who has given so much.

We are reaching out to the community to raise funds that will go directly towards covering medical costs, rehabilitation, and any additional support needed as Torch works to regain his strength and independence. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in his recovery journey.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Torch in your thoughts and prayers as he faces this uphill battle.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
The Taft Family!
