Support Peter Schwimmer's Stroke Recovery

My name is Kerry Callahan. I am a retired family physician and currently the treasurer of the Oregon Bluegrass Association. Peter Schwimmer is well known to the Northwest music community as a leading multi-instrumentalist, performer, and instructor, perhaps best known for his virtuosity on the 5-string banjo. In September of last year, he suffered a debilitating stroke, resulting in hospitalization and a period of in-patient rehabilitation. Though he retained his speech and cognitive abilities, the left half of his body was severely impacted with weakness and sensory abnormalities. He has worked hard to learn to walk with a walker and, incredibly, has made some progress with re-learning to play stringed instruments. He will continue to benefit from out-patient physical therapy, but his insurance benefits for this kind of treatment are exhausted at this point. His therapy bills amount to several hundred dollars per month he does not have.
