Support Peter Crabtree's Road to Recovery

Peter Crabtree is Coming off Hospice!

9 months since the doctors told him there was no hope of surviving and he has been in hospice care, this is the best news we have to share in a long time. If you’re lucky enough to know and love Peter, you know there is absolutely nothing he wouldn't do for the people he cares about. Now Peter has been though hell and has had the courage to request help from the community. For example, he survived the deadliest wildfire in California history and its aftermath, his musician sister Melissa was declared missing and has not been found, and then Peter was diagnosed with a rare fungal infection that caused a rapid and shocking decline of his health. The fungus is Candida Glabrata. It has negatively affected every part of his body, except his eyes. Endoscopy revealed it to be riddled throughout his esophagus and stomach, which explained why he is no longer able to swallow effectively. As a result, his weight dropped rapidly from 204 lbs to 127 lbs and he suffers from malnutrition.

After his care at UC Sacramento turned into a dead-end, travelling from our little town to UCSF to seek help became a necessity. These 4 hour trips for endoscopic and other special tests were taxing and required much planning, energy, concentration, and time. Fortunately, many people were thinking and praying for us, making suggestions, sending cannabis based medicine, and hosting us when we needed to stay overnight in S.F. Everyone has been very patient and understanding as to why Peter has not been his usual social self for a while, knowing he was using his remaining life force to fight for his life as responsibly as possible. Thanks to answered prayer and the support of our awesome community we have been so blessed to be a part of these many years, there is now light at the end of this tunnel.

As this light increases, as Peter has started to receive treatment, his weight is up from 127 pounds to 134 as a result of his ability to swallow slightly improving.

For his improvement to continue, it is important to reach to you all not only to update y’all about the new medicine already helping Peter, but also to ask for some help bringing in financial support to facilitate a success and to ease other supplemental burdens.

There is a substantial debt from trips made to UCSF to date that need to be covered. Fortunately, the future holds many more such visits, if we are able to fund that travel. Please consider aiding beloved Peter on his road to full recovery!
