Support Peter & Elaine - Hurricane Beryl, Jamaica
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Julie Parsons, raising money for Elaine and Peter Roberts in Jamaica, whose home and contents have been wrecked by Hurricane Beryl.
Elaine and Peter say, “We thank God for sparing our lives. It could have been a completely different story.
“Beryl the peril”, left destruction and devastation to many lives and homes in our region. Winds of 140 mph tore the entire roof off our home and rain poured in for several days. Like many, we are seeking to rebuild our lives and home. Insurance companies are inundated with claims and although we submitted our claim within 48 hours, we have no idea when an assessor will be able to visit.
Due to the extensive damage in our region, there is no electricity, no water, no internet and no telephone signal.” They have been told that it will take until at least mid-end of August to restore these essential services.
Whilst their home and contents have been destroyed by this event, and their car damaged too, Elaine has been lovingly taken in by a local guesthouse, while Peter camps at their home to do what he can to protect it. More bad weather is forecast for weeks to come, with heavy rain and storms (possibly more hurricanes!) expected.
In the meantime they have essential costs to cover including the purchase of a generator and fuel, a pump, volumes of water for drinking and washing, and foods that don’t need cooking or refrigeration (it’s still very hot there, at 35 degrees).
There are also items that won’t be covered by insurance.
Elaine’s intention is to continue to work for the ministry. They say, “We are holding onto Jesus and each other. We appreciate your prayers and support so much.”
It’s not possible to send parcels or cash/cheques etc to them as their postal systems can’t cope. But we can transfer money safely to them this way, along with our prayers and love. Thank you so much.
