In October of 2010, Pete had a benign tumor, about the size of his pinky finger, partially removed from the middle of the spinal cord in his neck. Since the initial surgery, subsequent infections, treatments, and surgeries have added further insults and injuries to his load, and have led to constant peripheral neuropathy and chronic pain. He's been in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation facilities a number of times over the years since then. Through all of this, his wife Nancy has been his constant caregiver, sometimes to the point of injury trying to move him by herself. At this point, she needs some equipment to take care of him, and also money to pay for in-home care that can't be had through local services.
