Hey everybody, I am setting up this gofundme for a good friend, and co-worker, Pete Dakaglou. Him and his mother have served as the ultimate restaurant duo, both running The Frenchtown Cafe and Sky Cafe for the last 25 plus years.
From growing up with Pete and getting to work with him over the years, I’ve come to know him by witnessing who he is through his actions because he is too humble to ever talk about himself or his accomplishments.
When the restaurant gets busy, he will do anything to support the staff, whether that’s hosting, bussing tables or even jumping in the kitchen to help prepare food. If the toilet gets clogged, he’s right there with a plunger, and if a coworker or customer is having a hard time he’s served as a compassionate and grounding source of comfort.
Pete will be the first to offer his help to anyone but would NEVER ask for himself which is why I’ve created this for him because he could really use our support.
On Saturday morning, his dog, Jersey was playing in the yard and dislodged the disk in his neck, breaking his spinal cord. He instantly fell and was gasping for air because he couldn’t breathe on his own. At one point he stopped breathing and Pete gave him mouth to mouth and CPR and was able to bring him back but just barely. His neighbors drove them to The Stockton Vet while Pete continued to perform CPR for the entire car ride.
Once they arrived, the vets were able to get Jersey to a stable point and he was then transferred to a 24 HR emergency vet in Philly that had a neurologist so that Jersey could get an MRI.
The MRI showed the dislodged disk and he was put into critical care on 24 hour surveillance. He’s breathing well now and is coherent but can’t move his body and has a catheter. Because of the anesthesia he came down with pneumonia so now he’s on antibiotics.
We’re all staying positive and hoping Jersey makes a full recovery. While there isn’t anything we are able to do on a medical stand point I know that there have been a ton of unexpected costs that Pete has had to take on and I am inviting you to show your support for Pete and his dog by donating any amount you’re able to, so that we can help cover vet costs, animal hospital bills, MRI’s….etc.
Thank You!
